iMac (500Mhz/600Mhz/700Mhz)?
Someone just gave me an older computer. Its a iMac (500Mhz/600Mhz/700Mhz). The internet provider that I was looking at says “Hi-Speed and Dial-Up services require Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP or Macintosh 7.0 or newer operating systems. Will I be able to use this computer?
I have the colored one. It looks similar to this: http://www.welovemacs.com/select-your-machine-imacs-imac–summer-2001-.html
Yes. System 7 is a pretty old version of Mac OS; and by having an iMac, you’re pretty much guaranteed to have at least OS X (System 10), not sure which flavor of OSX because you didn’t specify which iMac you had, the colored ones, the lamp one, or the recent all in one rectangle deal.
You’ll be perfectly fine if you are getting cable or DSL; dial-up might be a problem since few macs come with a modem port, you’d have to buy it as an add-on if it doesnt’ come built in.
