How to move files into Windows 7?
I recently bought Windows 7, I moved several programs from the Windows.old folder to my programs file in 7, but they don’t show up in the start menu or in the program that I use to launch programs (Launchy). How do I make it so that they show up?
If its any help, the programs were Steam, and a game.
You have to reinstall all those programs.
You can’t just drag folders around like that. Information necessary for them to run needs to get written to other parts of the system, too.
All the Windows.old folder is really meant to be used for is recovering things you may have forgotten to back up. You can get things like settings files out of there, or maybe fonts you installed and forgot to back up, or maybe your saved game files, but that’s it.
