.iso of Windows 7 x64 Home Premium?
Ok, when I bought my new laptop it didn’t come with any startup disk or anything of the sort, in fact, there were no disks at all. I wanted to have a Windows 7 Home Premium disk incase I ever need it for a repair install or ever need to re-install it or anything, I’ve searched the internet, and most of it is made to be illegal copies- cracked or pre-activated or patched, and what I’m wanting just a copy of it, just like the cd in the store would be. No cracks or preacrivation or anything, just the setup or whatever disk.
Does anyone know where I can download the ISO to burn onto a disk? Thank you in advance.
Contact the manufacturer of the laptop to obtain a legal version of your Windows 7 x64 setup disk.
Most of the time the manufacturers of laptops and desktops will include the Windows 7 installation materials on a system recovery disk. This will include a modified version of Windows 7 with all the custom drivers for your specific hardware already installed.
To save costs, some manufacturers now place that information on a special recovery partition on the hard drive. If you need to restore, you can do so by booting into the recovery partition. On most machines, you’ll see a brief message during startup that says something like “Press F11 to enter Recovery” or something similar. This allows you to boot from the recovery partition. That’s all well and good… but not very helpful if your entire hard drive should crash!
In many cases, the manufacturer of the laptop will also include a special routine that will allow you to build and burn your own recovery disk. This was the case on a new Gateway laptop I set up for a user… the first time I used it, it prompted me to create the recovery disk. This is just another money saving technique… you have to provide the blank media to make the recovery disk.
If all that fails, you should be able to request recovery media from the manufacturer of your laptop. Some may charge a small fee to send you the disk, but at least you’ll know it’s not some hacked, virus-riddled .ISO you tried to download off the Internet. It should also come with all your custom drivers pre-installed, saving you the hassle of having to download them from the Internet should you ever restore your laptop.
