Last date to order Windows 7 upgrade for $49.99?
Microsoft is offering a preorder special for Windows 7 Home Premium, only $49.99, but it is available for a limited time only.
Does anyone know what the last date is I can get that price?
Also, Professional is twice the price. Does anyone know what it will cost to upgrade from Home Premium to Proffesional after it is released?
The cutoff for the pre-order discounts is July 11 or while supplies last, whichever comes first. They’re already sold out in Japan.
They haven’t announced the “Anytime Upgrade” pricing yet. However, you could probably assume it will simply be about the difference in the full retail pricing. Home Premium and Professional have a $100 difference for full retail, so you’d assumably be looking somewhere in that ballpark to move from Home Premium to Pro later — yes, what just doing Pro by itself would cost now.
Those pre-order deals are extremely good. If you think you’d potentially have use for some of the Pro features in the future, it might be wisest to just jump on the cheap upgrade pre-order while it’s there and skip the Home Premium.
