Boot Camp Beta Fail to Run
Boot Camp Beta is a Boot Camp version available for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. This version has now expired and systems installed with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and higher are only able to use the improved version of the application that comes included in the operating system. The basic requirements to run Boot Camp Beta are an Intel-based Mac system, Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later version, a disk with single partition, and an updated Firmware. So, the tool might fail to be run on a hard disk that has been partitioned into more than one volumes.
You might need to erase the disk with multiple volume to get single partition if you desire to install Boot Camp Beta on your system. To restore the data thus lost, you need to use your backup or scan the hard disk using an efficient Mac Data Recovery utility.
Consider that you install Boot Camo Beta on your Intel-based Mac computer that is installed with Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later and latest Firmware. When you try to run the utility to install Windows on your computer, it fails to perform the expected task.
Cause
You are using a hard disk with multiple volumes, partitioned using a partitioning tool other than Boot Camp Beta, such as Disk Utility. If you observe that hard disk has not been partitioned and yet the tool cannot run, the cause could be a hidden partition that is not visible in Finder.
Solution
You need to erase the entire hard disk to format it as a single partition before installing and use Boot Camp Beta:
-
Boot the system using Mac OS X installation disk
-
Use Disk Utility to erase the entire hard disk to format it as single partition using HFS+ file system and GUID partition scheme
-
Exit Disk Utility and install Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later
-
Restore data from backup
You might need to use a Mac Recovery Software to recover the lost data in case if backup fails to restore. A Mac Data Recovery utility employs powerful scanning algorithms to enable data recovery after all logical crashes.
