windows 7 on netbook reviews
upgrading to windows 7?

i just got a gateway netbook for christmas and it has windows XP on it, which i am very familiar with.

i have used XP forever and never really had any problems with it, im a little afraid to upgrade my netbook to windows 7 cause i dont want anything to go wrong.

can i get some opinions and reviews from people who have windows 7 to help me make up my mind?

Windows 7 is amazing! Just whatever you do DO NOT settle for anything less than Professional. Reason being is that home premium does not support XP compatibility mode. Sure, you may spend a little bit more for the professional or ultimate but they are totally better. The only drawback to windows 7 is that the UI is slightly different than XP but similar to vista minus all the errors.
Other than that I haven’t had any compatibility issues.
However, since I read that you are going to be putting this onto a netbook then you might be better off just leaving XP on it. I like the portability of netbooks but they are extremely slow.
The performance of XP and windows 7 for a net book is marginal. with 7 you will have a slightly shorter battery life and it will drag insignificantly when put next to XP. So basically its up to you, if the upgrade is free then go for it. But if its not, you already know XP and it will have a better performance and battery life.
