Windows 7 on Netbooks?
I’m getting a netbook toady. I’ve read a lot of reviews saying that Windows 7 RC didn’t put a lot of strain on their netbooks in terms of battery life and performance. Anyone have experience with 7 Premium/Ultimate on a netbook?
While I don’t have any direct experience with windows 7 on an actual netbook, I’ve installed windows 7 ultimate on several very low-spec machines. Most netbooks are powered by the Intel Atom CPU and I’ve installed it on olde IBM T40 and T30 notebooks which are noticeably less powerful than the Atom. I’ve had it working on a 1.4ghz celeron with 512 MB of RAM and it works great. On my wife’s more powerful Dell laptop, the battery lasts about 20 minutes longer running 7 than it did running XP. I think you’ll do well and I think 7 is suited well to those machines.
