printer problems on windows 7 plez help?
i got a computer right next to my hp 3600n color laser printer it has windows 7 on it and i put the instalation cd in the dvd drive click on install printer and it comes up with you need to install internet explore 5.0 or later it still says this wen windows 7 already comes with internet explore 8 and i tryed to delete internet explore 8 but can’t delete it to install internet explore 7 so i went and use another way of installing the printer i click add printer and picked add local printer i pick lpt1 and after that i pick the model of my printer i click disk and it started to install it and after it finished installing i click print test page i wait and waited nothing came out then i restarted the computer it comes up troubleshooting every time even wen i fix the problem can anyone help plez
Not familiar with the 7 system as to yet but…
Go to the Windows Command line (Windows Start Tab lower left corner of screen and either there’s an input/address bar or a ‘Run’ tab on the pop-up menu)
type ‘devmgmt.msc’ without the quotes and select the printer you have installed at LPT1 port and by doing a ‘Right Click’ on it and un-install it.
You can install the device driver after that by doing a ‘Right Click’ on the root directory (The top most item) and select scan for hardware changes -the printer is connected to the computer of-course)
If not, you can manually try to install it as you did for the LPT1 port but choose the USB since the LPT Port is now generally used as a ‘Virtual port’ due to most external devices Utilizes the more efficient USB/ Flash Ports.
If your are still having issues check out the Manufacturer’s Online support page as well as support.microsoft.com to see if there are any KB (Knowledge Base) for this particular problem since windows 7 is a new Version of windows in the market.
