Is the hack to upgrade windows 7 RC to RTM really trustable?

About the hack to upgrade windows 7 RC by changing the minimum windows version in a settings file, is it really trustable? Does it really do a complete upgrade, or there might still be some bugs left that we don’t know yet. (For example, if the upgraded version still tries to reboot itself when the evaluation time is up, life would suck)

There aren’t widespread reports of problems from people who’ve done that. All you’re doing is changing the minimum build allowable from which it thinks it’s possible to do an in-place upgrade.

However, it’s not a supported upgrade path, and you run the risk that there will be files left behind by the RC that could cause problems with later updates.

Your best strategy would be to use the built-in Windows Easy Transfer tool to move your settings over to the final version, and do a clean install of it.
