Is Microsoft giving away .iso file of Windows 7 to students for $29.99?
I recently ordered a Windows 7 Professional 32-bit OS upgrade from Microsoft. I ordered a downloadable file instead of a backup DVD. Will I be downloading a .iso file which I can copy to a DVD so that I can perform a clean (custom) install to upgrade from Windows Vista Home Basic? I can do a clean installation using only .iso files right?
Yes you will download a .iso file. The key should be sent to you in an email, or they will give it to you before you download it. If you want to do an upgrade you can run the installer right in Vista. Or if you want to format the hard drive and start all over you can re boot the PC with the DVD in the drive and just follow the instructions. If you do the upgrade you will find that all your files and such are just as you have left them. IF you start all over make sure you have everything you want to keep backed up as you will need to put it all back on your system. Windows 7 is great I really think that you will like it!
