Oh yeah and which graphics card is better?
I personally have neither of these laptops, but I currently own the 13-inch MacBook (unibody), and am currently answering your question on that machine. Each machine looks fairly good. I would check with Consumer Reports and see if they have done any research and reviews on their website, www.ConsumerReports.org/Reviews, and see what they have to say about each computer. Apple does tend to have an overall better rating on their tech support than their competitors. Another difference to look at is what types of applications are you going to use the computer for. Both computers look well-equipped for gaming (the MacBook Pro can do Windows gaming through a Boot-Camp install of Vista). The MacOS X on the MacBook Pro though is a UNIX operating system, similar to LINUX in it’s stability, speed and security, but with a desktop interface that is in some cases easier than Windows Vista. On the other hand, the Sony does have a cheaper price tag, and includes a Blu-Ray drive. This is a tough one. My best suggestion would be to go to a store in person, such as a Sony store, Best Buy or an Apple Store, walk in and use each computer for a time and see which one grows on you the most. See how easy or hard each machine is for you start using. Compare the warranties, go to Consumer Reports.org, CNET.com, and PCWorld.com for reviews on both computers. And ask your friends and co-workers who have owned either a Sony laptop or one of the recent models of either an Apple MacBook or MacBook Pro and see if an how they like their computers.
Despite what some people will tell you, most of the 300,000 applications that run on Windows but not on Mac are not real apps, they are Worms, Viruses, Hackwares, and Trojan Horses. On most any Windows Vista PC or recent model Mac, the major apps that are usually being run are from Apple, Corel, Adobe, Microsoft, OpenOffice.org, and Google. Except for some Apple exclusives to the Mac and a token of Microsoft exclusives to Windows, Microsoft Office, Corel Office, OpenOffice, iTunes, Quicktime, Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Draw!, Quark, Google Docs, Chrome, Firefox, IE, and Safari are on both platforms, and in business for home or work, these are the applications most frequently used. I think your purchase is really come down to the bone of window shopping and comparing the two computers side-by-side. I hope this helps some.
