Looking for help buying a new laptop?
I’m an engineering student (3 years in) so I need one that can handle latest versions of Auto-CAD and FEMs with no problem. Also, I do a little gaming (looking to play MW2 and Dragon Age).
Estimated budged (including tax and warranty and everything) is around $2500.
Not really sure if I should go something like the think-pads or maybe the HP envy. Whatever I go with I do want it to look nice.
Also, not really sure if it’s worth it to go with the i7 processors and whether 6gig ram is enough or should I go with 8. Window 7 professional good enough or go with ultimate?
Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I would recommend a dual core or more 2ghz CPU with 2-4 gigabytes of ram. I would go with Windows7 professional. If your worried, then just pay extra dollars for ultimate, but I would say home premium would do just as well.If your budget is $2500, I would go for alienware or check the dell website. from personal experience, I was able to run xp with maya and 3dsmax very well with only 1gb of ram and a 1.6 Ghz processor. What you have in mind should suit your needs just fine.
