Is it worth getting the windows 7 beta instead of vista?
I just got a new laptop which will be my main and only computer, and i got it without an OS. So I’m wondering whether it’s better to get the Windows 7 beta or to buy Vista.
Basically what I need to know is if the beta version is usable and compatible with Vista applications, and if its stable enough for use on a daily basis.

I’m using win7 RC and for me it’s very stable (more stable than Vista), it’s faster, and it’s cooler.
The only caveat in win7 is the fact, that there won’t be an upgrade path between the RC version the RTM, so you will probably have to rebuild you machine.
My answer to you:
if you are a gadget guy, that doesn’t mind resetting his machine, than go ahead, you’ll enjoy the time between now and October 22nd (Win7 release date).
If you are not, than the answer is no, buy Vista. SP2 should make it a good OS.
